It's milkweed, and it's only a weed if you say so. It does feed the monarch caterpillars...

Ugh, milkweed. My old neighbors let it grow on the side of their house and the underground runners have spread though my driveway border. They keep coming up even though I pull the sprouts every chance I get. The new neighbors have put down landscape fabric and mulch thankfully, but I still get the sprouts.

The blooms do attract butterflies though, not that they get the chance to bloom now.

Give the paddle plant just a little light shade.
So it wont sunburn.Even succulents need a little light shade in the summer.
