I've never had them before, I bought the eggsack from HomeDepot online (and was half worried nothing would come of it).
I've been out a few times looking at them. I am sure the novelty will wear off.

HAHA! I was squeeing too.
I did say the 'Ohmygawd! Mantises' outloud and run like a lil kid to get my camera.
...I totally did not bring them into the neighbourhood...noooo (haven't seen any around here..only their food)

Oh what a great idea!! I noticed someone has been munching on some leaves down in my garden earlier today. What do preying mantises prey on?

Insects, regardless of age or phase of development. Anything they can overpower and devour. Young mantises, like these newly hatched ones, don't hesitate to eat their sibling hatchlings. (And the female adult mantis, when she has completed mating, does kill and eat her mate, or at least his head.)
