You may be in luck. Many avocado growers recommend snipping the first stem and letting a new one grow, so your bird may have done you a favor. It all depends upon whether or not your avocado has enough in the way of energy reserves to go through a new round of growth.

Apparently, it stabilizes root growth, from what I understand. I haven't had a chance to try it to find out for sure.

do you have any sources on that? I've been working on small scale production of avocado houseplants and would be willing to try it out if I had a bit more info on it. I'm a bit hesitant to do so simply because I recently lost 15+ germinating seeds due to a heating accident. Currently building a germination tray with circulating water pump to keep down the awful funk they let off in standing water. Figure I'll grow the plants for two years or so till the attain a decent look and then sell them to a few local nurseries.

REALLY!!
Well I just went to see him, and he seems fine. Though do you know of any method that might help him just in case?
Though he is quite small so if it was poisoning the effects should had happen by now, he's a small blue silver love bird and he ate everything this morning

second day since my bird ate the avocado plant and he still hasn't drop dead, either he has a high tolerance (and a tough little bugger) or avocado might end up not been poisonous to birds.

that's good. Google up on it, it is poisonous to birds. BUT in my experience a lot of thing that are very bad for birds don't seem to do much harm.
but when a bird gets sick, they go fast so it's always a concern.

My maternal grandmother used to grow avocado plants, but I have no idea how.
