Moles

Hello, I'm new here and have no idea what to do about my mole problem. We have a 1 acre back yard and over the WINTER the moles have taken over. There are hundreds of tunnels. In January we put poison pellets down the twenty holes we had, and I think there was some kind of aphrodisiac in them because now there are hundreds of tunnels.

All we have ( Read more... )

We tried everything for a few years to get rid of moles. Honestly the only thing that worked was a brown snake moving into our yard.

Well I've not seen a snake in my yard since we bought the house, thankfully. :-)

A couple of those sonic mole-chasing-thingummys helped get rid of the family of moles at my in-laws' house. I know some people don't find them helpful but I figure it's worth a try.

Thanks. I'll look into it.

We smoked ours out.

plugged most of the holes, and then dropped this firecracker type thing with some sort of deterrent or poison in the open ones, and it made all kinds of smoke. The next morning, we filled the last few holes. Either they're dead and buried in their own holes, or they moved out, because they didn't come back.

But, we had just two or three moles, and less than a quarter acre. Not sure if it'll work for you.

I somehow think the idea of blowing things up will make my husband very happy but yeah, with a whole acre full of highways now, not sure if it would work or not. Thanks.

It doesn't explode. Just makes lots of smoke.

Personally, i think it would have been cooler if it exploded, but it doesn't. The smoke is fairly thick, and travels fairly well through the tunnels.

Our moles or gophers, or whatever had tunneled next to a very tall retaining wall that would have been a disaster if it had collapsed. The smoke bombs didn't disturb the wall or collapse the tunnels.

I asked the boyfriend, and he says the smoke things we used were called gopher bombs. I don't think that was what the brand name was, but a google search of it turns up some options.

Great thanks so much. We have groundhogs, and I don't mind them. I think they are cute. (I'm from Miami but live in Ohio so gators I'm used to, groundhogs are new to me) but all of the sudden we have these tiny mounds and a huge highway system in our yard, with overpasses, on and off ramps, heck everything but a toll booth back there. Smoke sounds good. Now how to repair the tunnels once I smoke them out though?

My Dad used a small battery run radio, on high and buried inside one of the runs. They either move out or dance!

I have moles and voles. Previously I had a cat that would keep them down but she died. I am using poison pellets this year, it's a drag but without it I can't even keep lawn, much less any kind of garden around.

Thanks. I know nothing of these little creepy things. I didn't think they'd spread like this in winter when the ground is frozen. Like I said, I used pellets and all it did was make them make MORE moles! LOL! Plus I hate to use them with my dogs, for fear they'd eat one. I hate these moles.
