Has anyone here done a shared garden with someone else?
I have plenty of room for a garden but just don't have the time (or motivation) to plant as much as I could or keep it up, and I really hate seeing it go to waste.
I live in a small town that includes many immigrant families who live in apartments or homes where a garden isn't possible, who come from cultures where many kept gardens or small farms to help feed their family. It's very likely that I would be able to find a family that would be very interested in having some gardening space, though there is likely some things that we'd each want to plant that the other wouldn't care for.
My questions, if you have done this, are:
- Would it be an equitable split for me to provide the land, water, tools, amendments (compost and other things for natural/organic gardening), and all seeds/plants, and have the other person do most of the labor, then we split the results (though I'd likely take far less than half since we're only two people)?
- What worked or didn't work for you, in how you set up your shared gardening agreement?
- Anything else I should consider before I go forward with this?
Thanks for your feedback!
