My husband put straw in my garden once, and the seeds in it grew the next year. I had a time pulling it out.

Oops! Thick enough straw will keep there from being weeds, though, too.

I was going to try laying down newspaper, then the straw to cover my massive weeds and mulch, too. I just wasn't sure how many bales I could fit into my car, but if you can get 13 in your Corolla, I should be fine, as long as I am not taking my kids.

Did I say IN? Oops. Two went in the trunk bottom, three went on top of them with the lid sort of on the edge of them. Another few went on top of the trunk and on the roof, finally totalling 13!

It took a lot of rope to make sure every bale was staying put!
