Tomatoes in trouble ?

That's a close-up to the tomato seedlings - that decided to grow all alone in last years container, with a marigold on the side...

I didn't touch them yet as I didn't yet have time to go and buy new containers for the veggie corner... Today I noticed those *dead points* on them, what can this mean ?

Are the tomatoes growing in the same soil as they were last year? If so, it's possible they're being affected by nematodes in the soil. It's a good idea to start tomatoes in fresh clean soil every year.

They just popped up from the same soil... I didn't plant them, those should be the last tomatoes that I had left on the plant, that fell in and so on...

Do you think changing the soil can help - at least for 1-2 of them? Or shall I better forget getting tomatoes from these... It was a surprise for me anyway, so I wouldn't be too disappointed.

I just read that marigolds are plants to be planted next to tomatoes to avoid the nematodes - there were marigolds last year in the same soil, and there are some at this moment already in bloom... so I wonder if nematodes are really the problem...

hm, I'm not sure. I'm not really an expert... I've just been told that nematodes can be a problem when the same soil is reused. Maybe someone else can be more helpful! :)

Tagged. Tomato actually did exist, but that's ok.

If harlequin flowers turn out to be a hot enough flower, I'll add it too.

Tomato is a tag you can use, as well as a general "flower" tag.

Lovely roses.

I had missed that tomato existed in the tags...
I dream of this rose bush (it is a climber) getting bigger quickly :)

Have you been watering the tomato in the sunlight? Often this will kill off the foilage.

I didn't, but we had strange weather - rain - sun - rain - sun in the same day... that could be the reason maybe...
