hey friends,

shameless asked me to review films for them for their "film friday" feature. i used to really love jenna owsianik's youtube reviews back in 2009 so i'm very flattered and excited to start writing. also it's been too long since i've written about movies; what can i say, starting in film studies jaded me.

that said, go read my introRead more... )

Congrats! That's really awesome. =D Look forward to reading some. (By the way, I'm often drawn to men's stories, too...)

that's awesome, julia! i'm so looking forward to reading your film reviews. you're actually the perfect fit for the job.
you should review london river. i just saw it in the theatre and couldn't decide what i thought of it. but then again, the subtitles were in hebrew because i watched it in israel so there may have been some things i missed. anyways, i'd really like to hear your take on it. it definitely doesn't pass the bedchel test, but i think a good feminist analysis of this film is in order.
also, i remember talking with you about inglorious basterds -- you should review this one too. there's so much you could talk about with it.
best of luck with film fridays!

ooooh, fun!! here are some suggestions.

emir kusturica's chat noir chat blanc (i just think you should see it, actually, you would love it!)
pedro almodovar's volver
ulrich seidl's dog days
some truffaut for good measure.

and i'm surprised ghost world isn't there? i was sure you'd already written a review at some point... perhaps just not for shameless?

also i am listening to janelle monae right now. oddly enough i don't know anyone who listens to her, because i mean she is aMAYzing, but i know you do. so i think of you sometimes when i listen to her.
