Alle-fucking-luia!

On the day when the WYD cross will be going through Sydney with heaps of closures to the roads in the process, it had been announced that Channel Ten has finally come to it's sense and decided to cancel Big Brother for good. Could this be a divine intervention of sorts given it's pretty much a miracle, after all the complaints and ( Read more... )

The first one I ever watched was the 2006 season, because my parents refused to watch it. I got through about three episodes and then gave up for good.

But yeah, this is great news about it being cancelled! I read some news report saying that another commercial channel might want to pick it up- yeah right.

It makes you wonder why it ever became a success, doesn't it?

Why the fuck would anyone in their right mind pay someone 1 million bucks for spending 3 months in a house?

I suppose though that some contestants did become success stories in their own right after the show.

I always wondered that. And yeah, I watch a lot of those reality shows, and most of the time they have to do something difficult to earn that amount of money- like stay on an island doing really hard physical tasks with no food, or run around through different countries with almost zero sleep. A million dollars for sitting around at home? Where can I get that?

I agree with you. Where is the challenging aspect of Big Brother? That is one of the problem I have with it. I certainly don't think anyone should be rewarded for just sitting in a house talking. Shows like Survivor and Amazing Race (Go Ronald/Christina), I can agree with since there is a challenging aspect to it. Though at the same time it pisses me off when they decide to do some stupid food eating challenge or Survivor's annual 'sit somewhere and do jackshit for hours till the others give up' challenges.

BB did create some sort of challenge to it with the introduction of Friday Night Live which I did enjoy. But that got tiring fast. I not so fondly remember watching it to see the Logan guys win round after round after round. Even challenging reality tv can get boring when it's too one-sided. But then again what can you do about someone being a very, very good competitor?

WHOOT good riddance. Now WHY can't they do that over here? American TV is so full of BS reality shows it's practically unwatchable. I never watched Big Brother because I didn't see the point, but nice to hear it's off the boob tube SOMEwhere.

Now that's one of the reasons why I have something against the USA. Why must they keep on sending their bullshit overseas anyway?

Yeah I'm glad as well and I keep on wondering how people I know can even like that show. (and surprisingly they are intelligent people) Though I'm not quite sure about the way it got cancelled in the arab world, while I'm glad they won't be seeing anymore of Turkey Slap TV the reasons for doing so is disturbing.
