Here I am, again, writing more about the divorce. I just have a few stands to make on my soapbox, and then I will stand down. Promise. This is for a few friends who might need it. If you're bored, please skip!

I’ll put it bluntly: I needed to leave my ex and yet I was completely, utterly terrified for years to do so. Here’s why:

Thank you for sharing this. You are amazing and I'm so happy you found the strength and the courage to start life over again.

I was not in a relationship with my ex as long as you were with yours, but I can definitely understand what you went through with the instability and the emotional abuse. And how terrifying it is to leave. HUGS!

You're the best, love! <3 Thank you for commenting! I don't think I ever read about your ex, and I'm sick you had to go through all of that too. It's amazing how much you've survived and how you've thrived! I love your resilience, and I love how you and Billi are together. You two are such wonderful people and we're so blessed to have you as friends!

I really hope all is OK with her, btw. I was worried I accidentally offended her at our last party by being so easily distracted while we were all talking. :(

Yeah it was in 2008 and I have a lot of my old entries set as private. I'll tell you about it sometime if you're interested ;)

It's amazing how much you've survived and how you've thrived! I hope you think the same about yourself :D You've come a long way!

And OMG you totally did NOT offend! It's hard to spend a lot of time with one or two people when you have a houseful. The same thing happens to us when we have parties, lol.

Wow, we could share a bottle of wine (maybe 2) and swap divorce stories all night. Ours are quite similar in some respects. Yes, it is hell for a while, but things get SO much better! I'm very happy - retroactively - for you.

Oh no, I'm seeing this only now, four years after you wrote it! UGH! I'm so sorry!

On the plus side, though, we've been LJ friends for 4 years! That's a good thing to realize! <3

I'm so sorry that you went through something similar, though obviously I'm glad to be in excellent company, especially if it involves 2 bottles of wine and story swapping.
