Oh, I haaaaated any assignment that involved survey-collecting of any kind. Hope this helps. And my first name is Sarah.
1. Ten or fewer (usually fewer) full-sized bottles, several dozen sample or travel sized bottles per year.
2. Not especially. If I find I really love a fragrance that is a limited edition, I will sometimes buy multiple bottles of it, but I don't need to own an LE just for the sake of owning it.
3. I like oriental and gourmand scents in particular, and the brands I tend to favor are are Demeter, CB: I Hate Perfume, Jo Malone, Anna Sui, Lolita Lempicka, and Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.
4. The appeal of perfume for me is that, like clothes or cosmetics, it's an impermanent way to create a mood or a personal statement, but unlike those things, it's a more profound sensory experience. Part of it is also about having a little hobby: I enjoy having a wide range of scents to choose from when I get ready in the morning, and picking out the day's perfume is like a game.
Ooooo yeah, good idea! Thanks! I'm gonna hit up this posh place in West End too. Apparently they only carry exclusive French perfumes dahhhling, so they're bound to know someone, or possibly be 'experts' themselves.
2. The only limited editions I'm attracted to are usually by the makers of my favorite scents. Occasionally a description of the scent intrigues me, but I don't by LEs just to have one that's limited.
3. I'm a big fan of all things Chanel. My two favorites are Allure and Chance, but I fall back on my old reliable, No. 5 on occasion. I like light scents and my current favorite (LOVE SO MUCH) is Narcisso Rodriguez.
4. I just like to smell nice, really. I also like to use a scent that corresponds with my mood.
1. One or two bottles of eau de parfum 2. No. If it's available in my perfumes when I need more, I might get a limited edition but I won't go out of my way. 3. Burberry Touch, Tommy Girl and J-lo Still 4. I like to smell like me and I usually rotate between these three perfumes. Touch for special occasions (since it's so hard to find now), and Tommy Girl and Still for fun.
Why don't you interview a perfumer from an internet perfumery? I don't know much about BPAL but perhaps you can talk to them?
That's a good idea actually, I think the owner is pretty good at communication with people (and customers, every time I go on the website, I totally buy stuff).
