Deus Ex Magicae

I signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo recently with the intention of finishing off the story I'd been working on for NaNoWriMo in November; although I reached the 50k word target at the end of that month, I didn't reach the end of the story. I've actually not written anything since the end of November but I have wanted to get back into it. I was rather ( Read more... )

That sounds intriguing for sure, so are these replacement arms or some kind of augmented glove thingy that goes over them?

They'd be replacement arms. And I was thinking that there could be some kind of chip somewhere that can be upgraded with different spells, like battle magic or healing spells.

Did I get the Latin in the subject right? :P

Oh, clever :)

Er.. only if all your magical folk are female? Ex takes the ablative case and I'm only just learning that one.. um, plural of a first declension noun like magicus and they always default to male for mixed groups (grr).. that would be Magicis So Deus Ex Magicis?

*googles to check* aha, yes https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/magicus

Oh and that's handy, didn't know Wiki had Latin tables for words, handy! :)

I don't know Latin at all, I just googled what the Latin word for magic was and went with that! It's only a working title anyway, I just combined the game name with the tv programme! I don't think the title actually suits the story in the slightest - I'm more interested in getting the damn thing written than thinking of what to call it at the moment - but I appreciate the correction.

Sounds like a great idea for a novel.

I have to admit I started watching The Magicians and stopped after a few episodes as I just couldn't get into it. I don't really know why ...

Thank you, I like the idea of combining something ancient like magic with something futuristic like the prosthetics.

I found it really tricky to get into as well, I spent most of the first series having no clue what was going on. And it was randomly really gory too which was quite off-putting.

I think I never got as far as the really gory parts ... *lol*

That's lucky, they've been really quite gruesome and seem to have come out of nowhere. It's really quite an odd series, I have no idea how it compares to the books though.

I always do! Apart from the agonising over the plot not working, the characters, the characters not adhering to my plot, struggling for names and getting frustrated when the vision in my head will not get down on paper at all, that is... ;)
