Seeing as my birthday is rapidly approaching, I've spent the past few weeks wracking my brain trying to think of what presents I want. I don't tend to get much for my birthday, usually just a book or DVD from my mum and sister. At the moment there aren't any books or films that I want - pretty shocking, I know! - so it's been really difficult to

I'd say buy a Panasonic Lumix - had 3 so far and I'm super happy with them. They reason I had so many is that I tend to drop them on stone floors - not advisable. One thing is even the older models have a 20x optical zoom ...

But I don't want a Panasonic, I'm super happy with my Fuji! :P I had a quick look at them and the comparable ones to the XP80/90 only have 4x zoom and 16 megapixels. The ones with better specs either don't have the waterproof/shockproof stuff and some of the other features that the Fujis have or they're way over my budget.

I worked out that a case and memory card would cost about £30 so adding that to the XP90 makes it £210 which is a bit out of my budget. At least with the purple one, adding the case and card puts it at the same price as the non-purple XP80s.
I've had no issues with the Fuji at all and seeing as the new ones have the same buttons, layout and menu system, I'll be able to get to grips with it pretty much straight away. And seriously, if my current one is still going fine after 10 years, I'd be daft to try a different make!

All hail the power of purple for getting a good deal!
Absolutely - mines a Panasonic Lumix but i didn't get it because I had problems with the Fuji, just at the point when i was shopping for a new camera, none of the fujis appealed to me, they were very chunky and plasticky and I couldn't afford the better ones with optical zoom. Hope your new one lasts you another 10 years :)

I'll admit I wasn't overly keen on the look of this new Fuji initially, it does look rather chunky and less stylish, especially compared to my current one which is so sleek and thin. But as long as it takes good photos and isn't too big and heavy, I can't really complain! I hope it lasts me a good long while too *touches all the wood in sight*
