Around the end of July, the washing machine had a strop - it's under an extended warranty so we had to get an engineer out to have strict words with it. After he'd given it a good talking to, he put it back under the worktop but in doing so, he managed to damage the floor. No, we own the property. The washing machine is under an extended warranty so it's the manufacturer that I'm having to deal with.

oh dear... I'm sorry to say this but I feel trouble coming along the way. :(

I felt that it might be problematic when I'd not heard anything after a month. It's a huge major company as well, you'd think they'd be better at this kind of thing :-/

It's dreadful, isn't it? And it's not exactly a small company either, it's a pretty major one. I wouldn't have expected it from them at all.
