Ah - Herbin is the ink one of my friends always gets.

I still use the cheapo Pelikan ink - you can get it at least in a couple of nice colours!

Edit: I just checked - the Herbin ink cartridges are about 6x as expensive as the Pelikan ones ... errrr ... no thanks! I write too much for that!

Yeah, the Herbin ink is pretty pricey. I tend to use bottled ink with an adaptor so that I don't need to keep buying cartridges, I think it works out cheaper that way. Plus my fountain pen is a Lamy and those cartridges are really expensive here. I used to get the Pelikan ones when I lived in Germany! I'd forgotten all about them!

Where are you seeing the Herbin ones as pricey? They're just under 3 quid at Cult Pens where i tend to buy most of my inks etc... same price pretty much as Pelikan as far as I can tell.. No clue on international prices mind you, but Herbin is French so it shouldn't be that pricey if you're in Europe, I think the US prices are best at Goulet or JetPens.

Oh - I'm in Germany, so Pelikan is local so to speak. I pay about 1 € for a packet of Pelikan cartridges and Herbin are 6€.

Oooooo!! I has a jealous. I must be one of the few people left on this planet besides you who LIKES pretty paper and ink and gets all excited over them. My handwriting isn't as good as it used to be so I have to type a lot of things but I still get excited over looking at pens and papers!

There's a couple of people I know on LJ who are really into stationary, especially pretty paper and ink, so you're not alone! There's so little reason for writing these days, apart from the occasional greetings card, it's not surprising your handwriting lapses. You need to write more letters!

Hee, so glad it made you happy :) and er, you'd have had a Herbin Violette Pensee in there except it had fallen off the desk and hidden and I didn't spot it til the day after the parcel went off, oops. Mind you its quite an insipid pale purple, not nearly as nice as the Diamine Violet i got all over my paws the other day so you've not missed out really... :)

Of course it made me happy, I like surprises and presents and stuff in the post :) Shame that one cartridge got missed but not so much of a loss if it's so insipid. Did the Diamine Violet have a lasting effect on you then? :P Nothing quite like getting ink all over your hands to show that you've been busily creative.

Don't we all? :) Yes, sorry about that, if i end up sending you anything else in future I'll try and remember to pop one in.. and the Diamine washed off after a day or so, it had gone all blobby on the working surface so really lots of it to work into my skin and also fingernail, who needs polish? *g* Its a lovely colour tho so that's alright :)

No rush, I think I have a few to be going on with ;) At least the Diamine is a nice colour so you wouldn't have minded wearing it for a while.

I Love my roller ball cartridge pen that I also got for Christmas. I'm using it to write in my diary :) I've managed to find an unused pencil case I have that I've put the cartridges and pen in so they're all together as I seem to remember cartridges running out when I'm no were near my stationary supply ...

I'm glad you like it! I'm using mine in my diary too. I've got all my fountain pen stuff in one of those old wooden cigar boxes that we both had at one point, I don't know if you remember them.
