Secret gardens, science and doughnuts. Oh yes.

Here is the other half of my London post, the part with all the picspam. As I don't get down to London that often and as it costs me a fortune to do, I try to make the most of my time there and cram as much in as possible. I've got a Google Map marked off with places I want to see so I'd made a small list of some of them that were in the same ( Read more... )

travels and the fun thereof, going out and about, museums, photies, whoops there i go spending money again, being ill

Science Museum looks good - I have to keep that one in mind if the weather is bad in 4 weeks!
My great uncle used to have Isettas - 2 I think. His son inherited them and got a few more. I don't know what happened to them when he died, though.

November in England and you're expecting the weather not to be bad? :P If you're interested in science stuff, it's definitely a good museum. There's plenty to see there, I barely scraped the surface of the ground floor and there's at least another 3. Just stay away from the shop, it has far too much stuff that will demand you buy it. Especially the books.

Haha yes ... a girl can dream. I hope it won't be non-stop rain at least! For one there's still a cemetery on my to-see list so please - no rain at least one day!!!

Well, the monthly forecast on Accuweather seems to think it might just be showery so you might be okay. Which cemetery is on your list?

Nope! Traditionally British doughnuts are filled with jam. The ring doughnuts with a hole in the middle are generally American ones.

I don't know why it's taken me this long to find out it even existed! Hopefully I'll get to see more of it next time.

They were SO GOOD. I really hope Dunkies opens up some branches closer to me, I can't keep going down to London just for doughnuts ;)

Yay pics, its a proper little travel journal so it is :) I'd have been tempted by the donuts i have to say, such a lucky find, always something worth snacking on at Euston, I have to say. The garden looks really restful, nice secret little spot is just what you need to unwind a bit. And I see what you mean about Stephenson getting his bling on with the second locomotive - not sure about the "modern" part of that modern tech section mind you, amazed at the electric car, kind of scary that they're still working on getting one going over a century later, tho i suppose our batteries are a wee bit smaller nowadays :) Not sure the breakfast looks that appetising but then a lot of my food pics look much less delicious via the medium of photography, and as long as it tasted fab and filled you up. Still wish your foot had let you be a bit more adventurous with your plans but it looks like a fun day despite that :)

I was pleased that they had quite a decent selection of doughnuts to choose from. Although £1.49 each is probably a little bit pricey. Euston is definitely good for food, there's that whole little food court there, the only downside is there's bugger all places to sit ( ... )

Its not too bad for station prices I guess, and for something you don't often get...

Heh, not sure the recharging problem has really been solved even now though obvioulsy we've moved on from having to swap batteries out there.

Oh I always photograph food, some places seem flattered you're doing so (the Monroe where i was with the love interest were proud of the artistry of their plates so saw it as free advertising..maybe this place should make their food a tad more photogenic, tho i'd rather food tasted good rather than was style over substance). I'm sorry your foot's still not right, mum was asking about you just the other day and I was going to ask..

I suppose it's not bad for London prices, never mind station ones ;)

The recharging problem is slowly getting sorted now, primarily because the batteries don't need charging up as often! Can you imagine if it was possible to still swap the batteries? There'd be lines of people in the hard shoulders on motorways switching batteries from bonnet to boot and vice versa :)

You know, I never thought of it that way. I just didn't want people to think I was a hipster or something. I think it's definitely more important for food to taste good than look good, but you do at least want it to be presentable! Although I'm not entirely sure it's possible for a fry up to look incredibly appealing...

I think my foot would have been better long before now if I'd not had to go to London a week earlier than intended. That really did set it back quite a way. And then I had to drive on it last week when I'd not intended to either... It's mostly okay, I think, but it gets rather painful whenever I do something like drive or a lot of walking.
