I had to have a fasting blood test this morning and it has left me unable to brain. I really wanted to finish off sorting out my online portfolio ready for applying for jobs but I don't seem to have the energy or the concentration for it ( Read more... )

Feh, that's the worst feeling. I had a fasting blood draw on Monday. Those unnecessary extra two hours with no food can't have helped at all. :-/ I hope lots of water and rest make the difference and you're feeling better soon! And that you can play your new games in the meantime. :)

What was your fasting blood test for? Mine was glucose and lipids, whatever they are! Never had either of them checked before and I have no idea why they're needing to be checked now.

Same as every year. :) Testosterone levels, oestrogen levels (at my request), lipid profile, LDL direct measure, hemoglobin, hemogram, hepatic function profile, vitamin B12, and vitamin D (I'm often borderline for being too low on those two so E tends to test for them). Sometimes in the past we've done glucose, but not this time.

Has the oestrogen test actually shown anything? I mean, technically you should have some of both hormones anyway. As for the rest, I doubt half of those are even on our blood test forms. And you're not just checking for your T level anyway which is what my blood test was supposed to be.

What did you drink? Just water? Maybe something sugary (non-diet sodas and fruit juice, or maybe even those special drinks meant for sport players) would be the best way to go, to help boost your energy.
(But then I don't know much about it. It just seem like a good idea ;) ).

What did I drink when? I only had water before the blood test because that's all I was allowed.

I had orange juice and porridge as soon as I got home, as well as a cup of tea. I actually had about half a dozen cups of tea throughout the day, and a peppermint cordial which is supposed to help with nausea and stuff. It wasn't until early evening that I started to feel less dizzy although by then, I was feeling really tired. At least I feel okay today :)

That day was pretty much a write off, I felt better the following day although still not quite 100%. I hope I don't have to have fasting bloods again, it really did knock me for six.
