Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel

In my last post-surgery update post, I mentioned that I was having dizzy spells. They got steadily worse that week and by weekend, I was feeling really lousy. They then took Monday off for some reason but again, got steadily worse each day. Towards the end of last week, it was feeling less like the room was spinning round and more like the ( Read more... )

Me too! I was anxious that it was going to be something surgery related like internal bleeding or an infection or something similarly worrying.

Ugh, that's no fun at all! I'm very glad you don't have a surgery-related infection though. Checking for anaemia sounds like a good idea but triple feh to having to schlep to the hospital and back. :( I hope the tablets have you feeling lots better soon!

It'll have to be a taxi to the hospital which possibly costs about £15 or so. It can be really frustrating at times like this to be the only driver available.

The tablets themselves are just to stop the dizzy feeling, not to stop whatever's causing the dizzyness. I don't know if it's likely to be anaemia, I wasn't aware that made you feel like this. Before I started on T, I remember there being some concern because my iron level was low but I had it checked a few months ago and it was fine. So unless I did lose a lot of blood during surgery, I can't see anaemia being the problem. I was wondering if it might be something hormonal. Various internet sources say screwy hormones post-hysto can cause dizzyness and seeing as my T level was so low before surgery, it makes me wonder if that's anything to do with it. I've been trying to call Iffy to ask her but she's not returned any of my calls yet.

Feh. That does sound incredibly frustrating. :(

I've heard that anaemia can make you light-headed or dizzy but yeah, unless there was a lot of blood loss during surgery it doesn't seem like that would be the problem. I hadn't heard that about hormones causing dizziness post-hysto but it would make sense. I hope Iffy calls you back soon and you can get it sorted ASAP!

The doctor I saw is supposed to specialise in 'women's health' and when I said to her about people getting dizzy after a hysto because of the hormones being all out of whack, she just said she didn't think that was likely. Googling for 'dizziness after hysterectomy' brings up so many responses. It seems to be a common thing but the reasons range from sensitivity to the anaesthesia, post-surgery raised blood pressure, post-surgery anaemia, an d then usual things like dehydration. So many results on this topic on the hystersister's forum alone!

Still not heard anything from Iffy and I've called twice and left messages both times. So frustrating.

urgh - would it be possible to spin in the opposite direction to the dizziness, to maybe cancel it out?

Thanks, so do I! Although now I have another thing to contend with, as you'll see when you get to my latest post.
