FMP: final countdown

Apr 23, 2013 19:39

The deadline for my FMP is now just ten days away. TEN days. Seriously?! When did that happen?!?! Thankfully I am getting close to almost done. I'm in a weird kind of stressing-but-not-stressing place. I'm stressing because it's a big deal and the deadline has suddenly jumped incredibly close. But I'm not stressing because I'm almost done ( Read more... )

Ten days omg! Time flies. I'm so glad you've made good time with it and don't feel too freaked out about the deadline even though I know deadlines always inspire some amount of freakout no matter how prepared you are. Ugh, £75 for the book and banner?! That sucks so much. :( But I'm glad they do good work and give you lots of information and choices about how the book will be done and are local and fast. It's annoying to have to pay £35 for it but it sounds like at least they earn that £35. So yay for that!

Well, it helped that I worked hard all through the Easter break to make sure that I was on track. Especially when I kept losing a class here and there when N decided we had to do a specific thing and I had intended on doing something else.

Definitely one of the bonuses is being able to have a say in all aspects of the printing so I have some control it what it will look like. And considering I've designed the entire thing, it's nice to have that. Although I'm still worried that I will screw it up somewhere and have it come out looking crap. I have no idea if the paper I've chosen is a good one or not :-/

Yus, it's definitely good that you worked so hard over the break so you could stay on track despite issues. *eyerolls and glares at N* You're so diligent. :)

Aww. I'd worry about all that stuffs too so I quite understand but I think it'll look excellent no matter what you choose. *nodnodnod*

I paid £32 for 3 copies of my ug dissertation (2 colour, 1 b&w), yours is way more worth it I think. Damn sight prettier for a start :) But the banner price on top is a bit steep, you'd have thought the college would have an in-house print shop sort of thing for students use at knock down prices.

There is a print-house on site, sort of. There's a place we can go for printing but that's just for photocopying and general printing out of documents and that kind of thing, like in the college library. Their prices are pretty similar to the library's which are already extortionate (45p for a colour A4 print). Other than that there's the college reprographics department and apparently they charge £10 for one colour A2 sheet. The banner is made up for 5 A2 sheets so it would be at least £50. Not exactly a student discount there!

Yeah that's quite steep really. At least you've found it cheaper in town then.

Will you get it back afterward? I hope so. I'm sure it will be something you will love re-"discovering" accidently from time to time. ;)

No, not the money, the things you will print.

Oh yes, I'll get the book back because it will form part of my portfolio for job applications/interviews.

Possibly not as much work as you'd think. The bloke said to me that it's all done with a template and they just drop in the files that I provide. It'd be cheaper if I was ordering more than one book. And if I didn't have a photo cover on it. I can't believe it's £12 just for that.
