With Monday being a Bank Holiday and not having college on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, I ended up having a 5 day weekend. I did some homework on Tuesday morning - and finally finished off the research for L's brief omg *confetti* Even with that, it actually felt like a little holiday, which was very nice, I can tell you ( Read more... )

Yay, I'm so glad you got to have a little holiday. You more than deserve it.

That is so annoying that you had to schlep all that way for no reason, although it was good that you got to meet with S and at least you got a good amount of work done. I occasionally had that at college cos of being a commuter student - I'd arrive for class to find a note on the door saying it had been cancelled, or just an empty locked room with no note at all. A note wasn't that inconvenient for people who lived on campus, but for the rest of us it was a huge pain. It was especially annoying from teachers who had taken everyone's email addresses at the start of the semester and then just neglected to use them when it would have been helpful!

It's particularly annoying because of the schlep when I'm not going in for 9.30 or leaving at 4.30. At those times, there's a special college bus that goes from the village directly up to the college, and leaves from college and goes right through to the village. It still takes me an hour to get home but at least it's just the one bus. Outside of those times, I have to change buses and although there's a regular service from town to college, there's only 3 buses an hour so if I miss one, I have to wait 20 minutes for the next. So it can take anywhere from an hour and a half to 2 hours. I once left college at 3.30 and didn't get home till 5.30! And that's the time I get in if I leave at the usual time of 4.30 and catch the special college bus!

Feh, that does sound annoying. Two hours to get home is ridiculous. Especially if the weather's horrible and you're stuck waiting 20 minutes for the bus. And with all the work you have to do, it must be so frustrating to be stuck at the bus stop and know that there will be that much less time at home to do homework - or fun relaxing things, for that matter . :(

Did L not actually let you know she wouldn't be there because of the strikes? I just find that incredibly rude. It's so frustrating to make a wasted journey!

Apparently as it was because of the strike, she wasn't allowed to say. Which is ridiculous. And if we'd not gone in, we'd have been marked absent anyway. So either way, we had to go in.
