The owls are gathering...

For a while now Sunday has been a day for relaxing and fun stuff, which is why it's when I catch up on my webcomics and feeds on Google Reader. I was only thinking the other day about removing the Harry Potter ones as after the last film is out, I didn't think there would be anything much of interest on them now, other than saying what projects ( Read more... )

Ooooooo. I'm at a loss to imagine what it might be if not a new book. Maybe a re-release of previous books but with new extra bits added on? I don't know how likely that is but I can't imagine what non-book thing Jo might be gifting us with. But I'm glad you posted this or I never would have seen it! The scavenger hunt looks like so much fun and very Jo. But now I'm going to have to bounce around impatiently for three whole days!! Rar. *subscribes to Jo's channel so I'll be emailed as soon as a new video is posted*

The books were already republished last year with new covers, so it doesn't seem likely that they'd do it again so soon or that it would warrant this kind of announcement.

Ah, I didn't realise that. Agreed that it doesn't seem likely that they'd do that again then. I had wondered about the encyclopaedia but then figured it must not be that as it's not a book. But maybe a great big online encyclopaedia like you said below. That would be v cool, especially if it's big and involved enough to give the Lexicon a run for its money. The fact that http://pottermore.com/ is copyrighted exclusively to Warner Bros. is v interesting but doesn't seem like much of a clue unfortunately. I think they have the rights to everything except the actual books - the films, merchandising, etc. - so it could be just about anything. Unless I'm wrong about that. But I am v curious to know what would be announced specifically by Jo, rather than just by Warner Bros., that isn't a book.

Well, it's bookish, that's for certain. I think I'm kind of disappointed actually.

I have seen leaked images from sometime last year that seem to suggest an online encyclopaedia, but like way cooler than the Lexicon. Esp, since JKR blabbered on about having extra bits and releasing an extra book or something.

Some sad people think MORE stands for mmorpg, which seems a bit crazy and completely unlike JKR.

PS I didn't see it quickly enough either, and Cyn hadn't noticed til I emailed her either, so don't worry. The fandom appears to have been in stasis but will roar up now.

I seem to remember reading something about her doing an encyclopaedia ages ago but I thought it was going to be in book form. An online one would be pretty cool, even though the Lexicon does rather have that covered already. I suppose it could have additional unpublished stuff, background details of minor characters and that kind of thing.

MMORPG is seriously unlikely. I've seen people wondering if it's something further to do with the theme park which I'm not sure would warrant an announcement of this nature. *ponders* Maybe it stands for Massive Online Resource Encyclopaedia. I've since found that there's also a website www.pottermore.com and the copyright info at the bottom is for Warner Bros only, rather than Bloomsbury/Scholastic. Isn't that interesting?

Hmm, well not long to wait, and the time/date doesn't seem to be anything specfic - 23 Jun 12:40pm. I mean it's definitely odd. I hope it is an encyclo, although they better have enough bandwidth or the net might cripple.

I suppose the publishers only have copyright for the existing published books, and JKR holds the overall copyright for everything.
