I've been busy working on making up a Powerpoint presentation the last few weeks as my boss asked me to make one up for the Transgender Day of Remembrance which is next Friday, November 20th. She's doing a presentation of some kind which I don't think is Trans related but she wanted to acknowledge the date. She asked me to include information ( Read more... )

*tight hugs*

I mentioned Destiny Lauren and the Day of Remembrance and the project you'd had to work on at my first gig today, and will hopefully get to bring it up at the next one in 15 minutes too. It's so hard to communicate it; they get that it's a serious and solemn thing, of course, but as to how deeply it cuts, how personal it becomes, just because it's someone like you and in your community - whether you know the person or not - is something that I really don't know if it's possible to get across. But it's enough that we do the best we can, and make some impact. That's so much better than no impact.

I love you so much, sweet boy.

Of course, it's not just the fact that it could be someone you know, it's also that it could be you. The majority of people don't walk around with that kind of fear hanging over them.

Love you too.

*hugs* that's a hellish thing to be working on, but the more information gets out, the more awareness will be raised I guess... heartbreaking that there are so many young folks.... :(

It is hellish, not just because it's depressing but because it makes me really scared that one of these days I will be that person in the news. No one should have to live with that kind of fear.

There's been nearly 100 in total since the last TDoR, and of the ones that have ages listed, about a quarter of those were under the age of 25 :(
