Give to the moderately impoverished

Mar 01, 2008 13:37

I'm having a bit of a clear-out so I have some books and things up for grabs. I could really do with the money and I've been trying to get rid of some of these for a while now, so it'd be jolly good if you could help me out. Everything is in excellent condition or otherwise specified and all prices include postage to the UK ( Read more... )

first i would like to say Hi. my name is corwin. the icon is a pic of me from early in my transition, so you know sort of what i look like. like i said, i lurk. we do have a few thing in common, so its not totally random. - we both went to SCSU, although several years apart, we're both FTM, and i know your boyfriend, just casually. we used to go to the same support group, before i moved out of Boston.

so- i'm very interested in the VW book. i used to live in a VW bus shortly after i got out of college, and i fixed at least 6 bugs during those years.
also, what sort of photography does the book cover? if its primarily for colour, i don't need it. i do medium and large format B&W almost exclusively.

my email is 2112Silversmith @ gmail . com, if you'd like to contact me privately.
thanks!

Hi Corwin! I was only at SCSU for 6 months, it was part of an exchange programme. I enjoyed my time there though.

Which VW book is it you're interested in, The Beetle or The Volkswagen Beetle?

The photography book does seem to be primarily for colour, although it looks like it's all about getting a good picture, not about printing them. The blurb says: A comprehensive guide to all aspects of photography that should appeal to both the experienced photographer and the enthusiastic beginner. The book has been carefully planned to act either as a complete course in photography, taking the photographer right through from first steps to the most advanced techniques. There are 19 chapters covering topics such as exposure, flash techniques, portrait photography, wildlife, specialist techniques, studio work and many more. Tjhe final sections explain the most important technical aspects, such as how films work and the significance of f-numbers. Also included is an exhaustive file of data on filters and other topics.

How much? ;)

I got it as a present several years ago and was horrified. I've been trying to get rid of it but no one wants it.

Poor you!
Doesn't anyone you know have any wonky tables?

It'd have to be severely wonky, the book is about 5-6 inches thick. That's more than wonky, that's legless.

Nonetheless, I don't have plans to go across the ocean for a while.
And I find the necklaces very pretty...
If you could just tell me how much the postage for a UK-Montreal delivery would be, I could be surer (just PM me, or you can always use my email at danaelaurm at gmail dot com).

Okay, the cost for all three necklaces including postage to Canada would be CDN$26.

That'd be great. Are you going to PayPal it? Send it to pendragons_realm@yahoo.co.uk if so :)

Have you checked out what the Chalet School books are going for on eBay? I know a few people here in Australia collect them, it might be worth looking at - you could get a few more $ for them.

I'm having a 'sell out' at the moment too, via eBay - the more I sell, the less I have to move; plus the extra $ will be handy!

I'd tried selling them on eBay once before but no one was interested. They're not particularly collectible versions, just bog-standard paperbacks from the 80s.

Moving is always a good reason to sell stuff :)
