I'm reading the sequel to Locke Lamora at the moment, though it's been two years and I did not reread before jumping in. Enough is coming back to me that I am not completely lost, but I probably would have benefited from a reread.
I started reading it yesterday and so far, it does seem that re-reading the first one was beneficial. It's going to be a lengthy read though. I'm not sure what version you have, but mine's a paper copy and the print is TINY!!
It feels like it's taking me forever to make any progress on it. Ordinarily, I can read about 30-35 pages in half an hour, but with this book I can only manage about 20-22. I wonder if the font is so small to reduce the amount of pages, it might be more like 750 if the print was the usual size.
