Tonight is the 25th Anniversary of John Lennon's murder.
They just don't make 'em like that anymore. :(

if i were drunk, i'd drunkenly raise my glass and salute the guys.

how do feel about jeff buckley? i once wrote some lyrics (most of which sucked), but there was a line something about "mystery white boy and lizard king gone," and it was all about this:

They just don't make 'em like that anymore. :(

Sadly I am not familiar with his music! :( I just read a little bio of him and he seemed like an interesting person.

John & Jim were such chameleons. I wonder what they'd be up to today if they had lived.

jeff buckley was a poet, to be sure. i think a lot of poetry is crap, but he (and john and jim) i have nothing but respect for (in terms of their art, anyway).

That is ~Exactly~ why these are such huge losses! :( Such an immense wealth creativity there. Drug induced or not, these were phoenominally talented people.

Sooooo sad. Both had a great talent. I loved The Doors and Jim Morrison was far too young to die. I adored John Lennon, my favourite Beatle. I loved his wit and his music. I can hardly believed it's been 25 years. Seems like Yesterday! Woman and Imagine are particular favourites.

I know that I'm showing my age, but when I look at folks like them and compare it to today's music standards, there just hasn't been anyone to fill the immense hole that they left behind. :(

I know what you mean. My favourites are still the good old 'uns from the past. Somehow they seem to be on a different level to most of the modern day musical artists.

I just watched a very interesting programme about the Mark Chapman interview. Very strange man with a huge personality disorder. I hadn't realised John Lennon had signed his latest album for him just hours before he murdered him. He had the opportunity to kill him then but didn't.

wonderfuly creative souls taken away far too young
and it seems there are so few creative artisitc people now, which makes their loss even worse

I think the creative people are out there. It's just tougher for them to get their stuff "out there". Big Biz doesn't view them as commercially viable.

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end

It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me

The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

-Jim Morrison

Just thought I'd drop off an appropriate memory, as it were.
