When Bruce had seen the ad in the paper, after weeks of carefully searching both online and in person, his first thought was that he could eat real food again next week. He forced himself to relax, waiting until the waitress was evidently out of earshot before replying.

"I'd appreciate whatever you could tell me," he said, more personable now that he was actively suppressing the other. He scraped his fingers through his hair, just once, in a very real gesture of aggravation. "I don't do well with surprises."

Will disliked how the air above the table had taken on a tense, and calculated air. He'd been hoping and expecting this dinner to be a quick exchange of introductions, and then a further exchange of dates. Bruce Wells forcibly nudged Will into a part of his mind he'd kept buried for quite some time ( ... )
