I was driving through Chicago and saw, in the opposite lane of the highway, a large brown, 1970's-era rustbucket crusing at a high speed. Suddenly there were feet sticking out of the rear window. How odd, I thought. Then an entire human body, wrapped in a sleeping bag came flying out the rear window. The body struck the pavement, bouncing sickeningly toward the side of the road. The car quickly accelerated and took the next exit.
Holy shit, I thought, looking at my friends in the car, who were all thinking the same thing, My God, did we really just see that.

I found a body too once, but at least I didn't step on it.
My husband grew up on the lake. I didn't know you hailed from the same area.
