Your posts definitely contain interesting details about the "co-operative movement" in general, which I honestly don't know much about. I'll probably have to do some research via Google or in the local library (OPL/former-Lirico). I would like to see more -- though I guess you probably have written more in your contrib for 'Plexy.

Have a fun long weekend!

Duncan - One of the best places to get an introduction to the Canadian co-operative movement is in the Canadian Encyclopedia - copy the link: http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/index.cfm?PgNm=TCE&Params=A1ARTA0001903. Or go to the Canadian Encyclopedia and search "co-operatives".

The entry was written by Ian MacPherson, a retired history prof from the University of Victoria and Canada's foremost expert on co-op history (in fact, I know him quite well and he was at the conference in Cleveland that I attended).

Hope this is useful.

That sounds so cool - and the national differences are interesting. I wonder why US credit unions don't do business loans, and whether that's theirchoice, or mandated by other factors.

Gave fun gaming!

Apparently it has something to do with US banking legislation - there are restrictions on credit unions (maybe so they don't compete with the big banks in certain areas.)

That sounds like a plausible explanation - and of course, I disapprove!
