Day one of extended meme-ness

Jun 17, 2010 14:32

Inspired by the efforts of pintsizeninja, and because I need something to post about on a regular basis, I have decided that I will do both the 30 Day TV Meme and the 30 Day Movie Meme, simultaneously, but probably not at the rate of exactly one post every day cause that's messed up, yo.

TV Day 1: A show that should have never been canceled )

carnivàle, 30 day movie meme, 30 day tv meme, movies, memes, district 9

Yay, District 9! Wikus is happy with your choice. :D

I've never seen Carnivale, but I've always wanted to and now I really have a reason to watch it since I love Tim DeKay.

Michael J. Anderson always creeps me out, though. Even though I saw him in other things before I watched Twin Peaks, I'll always think of him as the Man from Another Place doing that really weird talking backwards thing. So creepy.

Carnivale is amazing, but people who have rape triggers should NEVER watch it under any circumstances. I don't know if that's you (considering your job I'm guessing probably not), but it's common enough that I figured I should warn for it to anyone else who might be reading these comments.

I always think of Michael J. Anderson as the motel manager from the X-Files episode "Humbug." "You'd be surprised by how many women find my height intriguingly alluring."

District 9! I love that movie so much there aren't words - for all of the reasons you have listed and then some. Such an amazing movie.

I think I am the one who told you that stuff about Carnivale. (c:

Re District 9: I had also heard that a lot of it was very improvisational - particularly the scenes in the beginning where Wikus is touring District 9 and trying to evict the aliens. Those were almost all improv between Sharlto Copely and one other actor. The rest of it, though, I think was a little more scripted - at least in terms of how the plot was going to unfold and so forth. I think you would be hard pressed to make a movie with so many special effects without having some sort of clear vision of the story!
