"Sam Houser, Rockstar Games: He's the 'Quentin Tarantino of videogame designers.'"
Just two thing about the WSJ article... 1) Appears that there are no important japanese game designers/artist on their list. Egocentrism or lack of fund injected in the WSJ? Who knows?
2) Same Houser is NOT the Quentin Tarantino of videogame designers. There are MANY designers that could brag for that title, especially Hideo Kojima.
They do have Shigeru Miyamoto on the list, as well as the guy running Weekly Famitsu. So while they're missing out on Kojima et al, they've at least got two chief players listed.
Can't we just let it go?anticronFebruary 22 2006, 13:35:06 UTC
I know he's big sensationalism and whatever, but can't we just declare invoking "Jack Thompson" as the new Godwin's Law and try to actively avoid enticing the rabid troll?

Agreed. Jack's become irrelevant in what is increasingly becoming a dead issue(which I believe it already has), as he is nothing more than a one-trick pony.

Professor Edward Castronova (MMO economy expert): " He writes about games from an academic perspective.
Read this man's book, "Synthetic Worlds: The Business and Culture of Online Games." It's an awesome read. He takes what should be fairly dry stuff and makes it entertaining.

For a student of The Dismal Science, Castronova writes a very fun and engaging book detailing the ins and out of this strange, otherworldly economy that only seems to get stronger and stronger as the years pass. Breaking down everything from goldfarming to rare drop exploits in terms of economics and inflation, it's an amazing perspective on a lot of the stuff MMO players just kind of take for granted. I highly reccomend this book.

If you've been around here as of late, you know he'll just create another user and take off right where he left. This man is an attention whore and can't live without it.
Re: NO!!! Shhhh!!!skemodanFebruary 22 2006, 15:46:33 UTC
I KNOW! But I don't want him to. If he has no reason to post, he oftentimes doesn't. He doesn't post in stories that don't immediately pertain to him. Only when its about a shooting, or him specifically. I'm enjoying this silence, I want it to stay like this. If nothing else can he PLEASE go a week without annoying me?
Re: NO!!! Shhhh!!!duncan_922February 22 2006, 16:31:20 UTC
I want that too, but fact is that the guy will post anywhere, anything to get attention. He trolled the Post about Calvin and Hobbes, the one about M. Bloomberg... The guy is a sociopath. Ever seen The Cable Guy?

(1) "I didn't know he had one to defame."
(2) "Why bother? He's done an outstanding job of defaming himself."
Ain't I a stinker? :)
