Gee, wasn't Jack threatening you?jabrwockJanuary 6 2006, 15:47:40 UTC
4th? by 20 points? Didn't Jack demand he be on this list, and he accused you of refusing to put him there, because he said he'd win? And after all that, he gets FOURTH?
Not to rub salt in the wound, but that's worse than what happened to the US Junior Hockey Team at the World Championship this past week. :P

I'd take it that the poll shows JT to be more outspoken and rabble-rousing than Yee. But hey, I voted for Yee myself, even though I detest the man (well his views anyway).
I'm Glad Doug WongodofyouallJanuary 6 2006, 15:54:36 UTC
Even it it was marginally. Doug has taken a lot of flack recently from the likes of Jack Thompson which IMHO he doesn't deserve. He has also helped to get the recent barrage of unnecessary legislation overturned, for that reason alone he deserves the win.

I disagree, for the same reason I don't let Jack take credit for things like Bully's delay. Doug didn't overturn those rulings. Judges did. If Doug had come up with a particularly clever way of defending the industry, he would have been notable. But even when the legislation was announced, everyone knew what his response would be "1st Amendment, 14th, self-policing, no proof, educate, etc". Nothing extraordinary.

>>>Doug didn't overturn those rulings. Judges did.<<<
I didn't say that he actually overturned them. - I might be a little dense but hey give me a little credit haha. I meant that he helped with the cases. Doug liases with the officials at all levels to make the voice of its members heard on a wide range of crucial legislative and public policy issues, including content regulation. He also spreads the pro-gaming word and gets the relevant pro-gaming information out to the masses. I think that deserves some credit.
No, I mean HG Wells, father of science fiction and writer of The War of the Worlds. Why? Because he's awsome. Besides, as inventor of science fiction as we know it, we owe him for all the wonderful science fiction games we play.
I didn't vote for him, but he did help get those bogus game laws over-turned. And he's refrained from dignifying Jack's childish insults with a response.
Re: Yay For Dougcatch_33January 8 2006, 00:56:21 UTC
That's true. Doug and Hal are the closest things we have to champions.
Unfortunately, neither of them have taken much of an active role in trying to shut down the anti-gamers. If they did, we could have won this culture war by now.
P.S.: I fail to see why the spam test was necessary.

I don't know how to interpret the results. Does it mean he's more hate than Yee, or more liked? :P

He might have been a newsmaker had he just rolled over and not objected, but objecting to these kinds of laws is his job.

j/k on the punishment.
Now if she voted for Thompson, she'd be grounded...
