I used to buy this guys games waaaay back when I had an Oric 1.... A real pillar of the British gaming community. Domark were one of the few companies to actually pose a challenge to Ultimate's almost monopoly-like hold on the market they had for a while :)

What's the US equivalent of this? The Purple Heart or lower?

As far as I'm aware the US doesnt have an equivilent system of honours, a purple heart is a purely military honour for soldiers killed or wounded in combat.

"As reported by Gamasutra, game visionary Ian Livingstone has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for "services to the computer games industry."

I doubt anyone at the Daily Mail offices has heard, otherwise they'd have a mass mental breakdown.

Oh, yeah, they'd be all for more honours for nice middle class couples who go fox hunting, have pictures of Diana on the walls and vote Tory. Not the (I quote) 'pornographers of violence' in the game industry.

It is nice to see the game industry being regarded as beneficial to Britain and by honouring those who do well, the game industry gains more credibility. Very happy with this story.

Just wondering... tsknf January 4 2006, 15:00:48 UTC
But I wonder how often now people are going to stop him and ask, "Dr Livingstone I presume?"

Huzzah! A well deserved award.

Didn't he also found Bullfrog with Molyneux?
