Superb overall round up of 2005 godofyouall December 21 2005, 13:35:07 UTC
Very good Dennis, and a superb overall round up of the video game news from 2005, the good and the bad.

Considering Thompson riped into you and GP in the recent article he contributed to I also thought you done well to refrain from laying the smacketh down on him.

Well done Dennis.

he's ripped me so many times, I'm not sure which article you're referring to?

Sorry It wasn't an article he contributed to just one of his news releases - covered here:

Thompson also put some blame for the harassment on the media, stating "This is the type of harassment that internet video game 'news' sites like Dennis McCauley's [www.gamepolitics.com] generate."

Even bad publicity is good publicity (especially when it comes from JT)

It is not entirely surprising that he would start attacking the same forums/news sites he regularly trolls.

Excellent article, and you only had to mention Jack Thompson once.

When did the suggestion to get rid of solitare come from? That sounds priceless....

I believe that solitare issue is not anti-gaming per se. It's just anti-gaming while "on the clock." Personally, I'd like to know that my taxes aren't being spent so some asshat gets to play free-cell all day, but I know that isn't likely to stop anytime soon. Might be pot-blackish since I'm playing Freecell, working, and trolling GP at work, but then again, taxpayers don't pay my salary. (And I get my shit done)

a Democratic think tank, recommended that candidates woo the married parent demographic by taking a stance on perceived negative cultural influences

Well, that explains the landslide of "me too" legislation...

Way to go. Try to convince conservatives to switch sides while losing support on your own. BRILLIANT!

Great summation of key points in that article. 'Grats to Dennis for getting in on one of "[Dennis's] favorite sites." That's what I love about GP, I'm on one of my favorite sites almost everyday!

Also, I would like to say that I will personally buy both "Bully" and "25 to Life." If one thing is certain in the U.S., it is that money talks, and when it talks - politicians listen. I want these games to be enormously successful, and I will actually take the time to register my age if given the opportunity. 24 and they will have to pry the controller out of my twisted claw as they nail shut my coffin.
