He's bound to at least TRY to defend himself. He's not intelligent enough to even know he's defeated yet.

It's like the ancient game of Go. Better, more intelligent players will often give up games a lot sooner, as it's easy for them to see when they've been thoroughly trounced. Lesser players will keep pushing, only sealing their loss more and more through further and further errors. Jackie won't give up, he'll come back here and act more like a little kid, and thus, drive himself further into the ground.
