Yeah, that first episode with Angela telling Peter he'd lived in/grown up in Nathan's shadow and that was how it should be ... ugh! Bad parenting 101! One of the things I've learned about parenting is you never compare one child to another like that, or put down one at the other's expense. But she says that baldly and Peter listens with blank-face, like he's heard that before, it still stings a little, and he's not going to react outwardly to it. I also know it's really easy for an authoritative parent to get in the habit of saying whatever stupid crap they want, because they know they've got their kid too cowed to talk back. Peter's silence spoke volumes to me about his relationship with his parents, Angela in particular. He might love and honor her, but there wasn't an open, respectful dialogue between them. At some point, to get his family's respect, he has to tell them to fuck off.

Shagging Sylar would be a good way to do that - passive aggressive, demonstrative, sort of juvenile in its rebelliousness, and very satisfying.
