I have no job for Anne. How is she affording her condo? How is she buying groceries? Does her partner live with her or just crash sometimes? What is her partner's name?!? What is her job, etc.? Is Anne's gift passed down or is she special?
Come on, throw things at me an we'll see what sticks!
Anne used to teach the arts at a private place, but becpause of.the economy they let her go. She has a house on the Northwest side that has been in the family. She is now an adjunct professor at the local state university just getting by and has no medical insurance. She still doesn't have a last name.
Her partner's name is Cristina Maldonado and has her own place but spends a lot of time at Anne's place. Cristina is a nurse who works the rehab floor of the hospital. She took one of Anne's classes thinking she could use art to communicate with her patients.
My protagonist doesn't have a name. Or a job. Those are things I should really sort out. He needs a job that pays well enough for him to be able to afford a house with a fair few rooms (and the upkeep of several lost time travellers), but that doesn't take up too much of his time. Or he needs money coming from somewhere. And a name. Something ordinary.

But I've decided he's a freelance photographer. He'd love to hold down a full time job but his life is too unpredictable for 9-5.
