this was so hauntingly, breath-taking-ly, beautifully written
"Sungjong already has a little brother, but he and Sunkyu don't even look related. That was what family friends would always say. The women would pat Sungjong's cheek and say, Ah, what a pretty boy, before Sunkyu was old enough to sulk and sometimes after. The tips of their acrylic nails scratched his face a little, but never hard enough to leave a mark. Such smooth skin, they would say approvingly. Such a waste, they would sigh. Sometimes Sungjong's face feels like it's solidified, hard and frozen."
