I've been busting my butt on the box project my friends have gotten me into. It's called Out of the Box for the "city" where it's in tromp l'eoil style

Religion is a very important part of many peoples' lives, regardless of their sexuality, so I can see why they would want to incorporate that into their marriage ceremony. It's just a shame that many find oppression/rejection in their churches.. but this certainly isn't the case for all religious denominations. If only the tolerant and open-minded ones were more mainstream!
::sigh:: It disappoints me that she feels this way. Were her arguments based solely on reproduction? People read into religious texts in SO many ways, and I wish the happiness and rights of individuals would be held to a higher respect than someone's limited perception of the world based on old texts and worldviews.
Women and African Americans, Native Americans, etc. were seen as inferior at one point too. People said it was biblically based. People with any mental or physical challenge were locked away for their entire lives, noone to communicate with or care for them (if they weren't killed as infants). How is prejudice toward homosexuals any different?
And the stuff about Darwin? What kind of world does she want to live in? I want her to trace, step by step, exactly HOW Darwin screwed things up. I bet she's just making some broad generalization based on what she THINKS Darwin wrote about.
But yeah, I'm rambling. I should check LiveJournal more often; I wouldn't have known you wrote on here if you didn't tell me! Oops.
Yes, her thoughts on Darwin is very generalized, probably based on Christian thought towards that subject. It is rather insulting in my perspective that she could say such things when she has hardly taken any science courses. I am pretty sure she has never taken a basic biology course. Grant it it wasn't allowed to discuss evolution or read over the topics of evolution in biology in our classrooms. But hey, I was in academic at the time and read the chapters about bone structures on evolving fish which is still present in man.... ;D

wow!! I hope I don't sound to uneducated when we talk. However if I dont understand something I normally keep my mouth shut about it. Either way I'm sorry you're upset about the box ... hopefully talking about it helped. :D
Yeah, talking about the box with you has helped a great deal more than with Tami. I am rather suprised by her reactions when I have confronted the idea of the relationship with th surroudnings, etc that deals with the tromp leiol style. Perhaps she has been more concentrated on being individualistic rather then the style. That may be exactly so... None the less with you and I combining our thoughts we shall get the box done.... we need to kidnap it, though... And no, you have not sound uneducated whenever we get into converstations about political topics like Tami has. Her voice and mind is completely in the hands of religion. Luckily for you, you have an educated boyfriend like I do. Tami has no body who is educated enough to object to her ideals other then Debbie, you, and me
