Let me say, thank god for call display! The lovely service allows me to screen out unwanted callers like surveys, charities1, and more recently, phone spam and scams. There was that Bahamas scam a few years ago, and now there seems to be a rash of spamming via phone masqeurading as "voice marketing", as this website puts it. Pay attention ( Read more... )

Yo, I just got two phone calls fast on the heels of each other, one for a home security system (I told him I didn't have a home, so I didn't need a security system, which is very boo hoo poor little Match Girl but I'd been asleep) and then a girl called me to ask if I'd been getting all my fliers. Then she asked if I lived in some PLACE that was not HERE, so I said NO and she went away!

I had NO idea what was going on. It was totally weird.

You should totally say, "I'm so sorry, I think you have the wrong number" in a decidedly stereotypical Indian accent à la Apu of Simpsons fame XD

*laughs* I'm so not down with doing that to a person who's actually Indian. Not that it isn't a funny suggestion!

Oddly enough, the people who called were North American sounding enough, so I'd have been comfortable thinking that they'd know it was Apu I was referencing.

Hehe - it is pretty funny, and I might even buy the book after reading that article XD But it's funny, if the right gene isn't turned on and the proper hormones aren't released - human fetuses naturally develop into females ♥

Also interesting, men apparantly work harder at deciphering female speech :P
(doesn't let them off the hook for not listening, however!)
