Step outside your comfort zone a bit more often. It's fucking terrifying, but it more often than not leads to beautiful, interesting mistakes with profoundly cool consequences. I am way off the map for what I expected of my life, and I feel like I'm on the razor's edge between mediocrity and greatness. I might regret whatever I do right now later, but I have more fun regretting my accomplishments than my retreats.
That said, I was through your neck of the woods (southern/central cali) and I didn't have your contact info. Where are you living nowadays, and are you up for a transient brown visitor early next month?
I was going to respond with the 3rd weekend of May is good for me, but that just changed. I'm going to be away every weekend! It's ridiculous, but it's just sort of how I'm doing things these days...I'm trying keep myself as busy as possible (too busy, but it's better than the alternative--bored and lonely!). I'm totally doing the travel around to catch up with friends and family thing. How very KK and Dave Eggers of me. ;-) Are you still going to be in California in June?
