That was child's play compared to the brutal treatment and psychological torture by the order of sadistic Irish nuns in the school for "wayward girls" seen in Peter Mullan's 2002 film The Magdalene Sisters.

I did my A Level drama peice on the Magdalene Laundries. Doing the research was very upsetting. I spoke to a couple of women in America who had been born to women who were then locked away, never to see their children again. The babies were shipped off to good Catholic families abroad.
