Marriage beurocracy
congragulate me - I now have a bachelor's certificate testifying that I am, indeed, a bachelor.
This is the first step to get a wedding permit.
It requires going to the local Rabi with my parent's wedding certificate and two witnesses.
The witnesses, presumably people who know me for several years*, sign that indeed i am single.
There is, of course, some payment involved.
The certificate is valid for 3 months only.
* actually, its a formality and the rabi doesn't inquire about that. But acidentally the witnesses were a friend of my sister and her step-father, which do know me, or actually did, a few years back.
The next step is for Miri and me to go to the Rabanut where Miri lives, with two other witnesses for me, and two for her, and more money, to get our wedding permit.
