I think being fired is extreme but cops have been under such scrutiny that it may, in part, be a reaction to the many complaints about cops and a way to show that 'the Department is taking complaints seriously.'
I didn't read the article so don't know what reason was given for firing the cop but I will say that he used poor judgment in dancing in such a suggestive way. In a disco, on his own time, with his own friends - he can do whatever he wants, IMO. As a NYPD cop, in uniform, on duty, however, dancing in a way that suggests anal screwing - I don't think the 'NYPD Big Brass' would like this at all. The NYPD is not known for being very broadminded or gay-tolerant. They're more like Macho-minded. Hopefully, the cop will be reinstated.
This is one of the Pros - or Cons - (depending on one's perspective) of so many cameras in so many places recording us.
Several years ago, a cop on duty at the West Indies Parade in Brooklyn got a lap dance from someone. I don't know what, if anything, happened to him.
I searched for the article, found it and read the comments. Some of them referred to the site, The Adobo Chronicles, as being a satire site.
