Thank you, Shadesong. Whippersnapper that she is, young Shadesong has finally shamed me into trying this Live Journal thing ... but only after constant reassurances. She's such a charmer.

So here I sit on a bright sunny Autumn morning. I've got the VCR running in the background as Annorien watches the shows she missed - Buffy, the Vampire Slayer ( Read more... )

I'm only barely still a whippersnapper, y'know. I am Pushing Thirty.

*hugs* Glad to have you here, hon. :)

Well, I just hope that I can justify the faith you and Shadesong have in me.

Woohoo! Galdrin's been sucked over to the Dark Side!

We watched the original pilot of Birds of Prey (before it was retooled slightly and they recast Harley Quinn), and it was okay. Has potential, especially if you don't have a great knowledge of the comic characters. We'll certainly be Tivoing it.

I have been enthralled by the possibilities Birds of Prey ever since I saw the announcement of the show. I didn't follow comics very far as a kid, sticking mostly with Classics Illustrated and Batman. I guess it's just that I got hooked on science fiction at a young age and read books more than looked at comics.

These many years later, I found Miller's _The_Dark_Knight_Returns_ a riveting story. I picked up all four of the original Ballads and Sagas from Chalres Vess. Finally spinning off into odd things like Team 7, Deathblow, Wetworks, and Animal Mystic. Then comics sort of died off again as writers left during the great upheaval about 7-8 years ago. I haven't been able to get back into it again, despite my interest in trying Gaiman's Sandman.

Still ... I have high hopes for Birds of Prey.

Oh, there were still some good writers left, but there was definitely an implosion in the industry then. It's gotten much better again. You might enjoy Fables (which just had issue 5 come out, so is easy to get on board with), a nifty tale about fairy tale creatures who have assimilated into our society. It seems to be well-received in Sandman fandom.

Welcome to LJ, Galdrin! I've been here for all of five days, myself. As yendi told me, it seems like every ex-Tamson House person makes his way here sooner or later. Glad you made it.

Well, I've been tossing the idea around for a while, and shadsong finally convinced me, pointing out that I cannot post to some sites because they have LJ Member's Only security turned on. After reassuring me that I have a certain degree of control over who can and cannot post to my own L-J, I gave in to her pleas and bit the bullet. As I've already commented, I hope that I can justify their faith in me.

BTW, you displayed the wrong team's logo for posting to this site. I didn't see the Red Sox or Astro's anywhere on your picture. :-)

Hey, you root for your teams that didn't make the post-season, and I'll root for mine. :-)

I must admit that the Mets were pathetic this year, while Boston and Houston were merely disappointing. If only I could bring myself to seriously root for an AL team, I could be a disappointed Mariners fan, instead of just a disgusted Mets fan.

Anyhow, when I get a chance, I intend to make a Grateful Dead/NY Islanders icon to use for the next six months or so. :-)

I, too, must admit disappointment with Boston and Houston. On a lark, I'd put money on both teams to win their respective pennants when I was in Las Vegas this past spring. Ah well ... there's always next year.

I love the idea of a Grateful Dead Red Sox or disAstros logo. That's pretty kewl. Me - I'm limited to pencil drawing m'self.
