[You know how the journals have that uncanny ability to switch on at the most inopportune times? This is one of those times. When it starts recording, Anise's voice is faded - as if the journal's facing away or perhaps hurriedly being stuffed into a bag.]

[Sokka's house is on the way to the barracks. And on top of the house is Sokka pouring over his daily schedule, which he's making lots of adjustment for in preparation for the draft. And he doesn't even know when it will be. However he does happen to notice Anise walking by. There's someone he hasn't had talked to at length for awhile.]

[Anise, unfortunately, isn't really in the right mind right now, and doesn't even register that Sokka's called out to her. She goes right past him. She isn't running anymore, but she's at a pace fast enough to signal that no, she didn't hear him but slow enough that he can probably tell that something's not right.]

[Well that was odd. She was usually happy to see him. After a moment, he tucks his schedule into his tunic and hops on the roof and trots after her.]

Anise?

[She looks up, startled.]

O-oh, hey Sokka. What's up?

[Action]

[Kratos is actually in the barracks, having decided to do some training himself. He expects to be by himself by this time of day, so he narrows his eyes a bit in mild surprise as he turns to see who's at the door. He's already got training dummies set up around the area, so feel free to invade his space and steal his equipment.]

[Normally, Anise would at least be nice enough to ask permission before frying some of those training dummies. But as it is, she goes ahead and invades Kratos' space and steals them right in front of him.]

[Action]

[Space invaded! This earns a raised eyebrow as Kratos takes a step back, allowing her to take the training dummies. It seems as if she's venting more than fighting, and so, after watching for a moment, Kratos sighs, then sheathes his sword.]

Are you all right?

[Glances up at the tall guy, blinks, and frowns a little. She's doesn't seem to be in the mood to talk.]

... I'm not supposed to talk to strangers.

[When it begins to get dark and there's no sign of Anise's return, there won't be much left to stop Nephry from going to find her. Earlier she mentioned the barracks, and it seems like a good place to start looking. Distance from the house and a relatively slow pace should keep Nephry from getting there until Anise has just about spent herself, though - she has no plan for what to do if Anise isn't at the barracks (so good thing she is!)]

[Nephry will probably find her still inside, spent or not. There are a few smoking dummies lying nearby, and she doesn't seem to be done. Even if she looks more than exhausted by now.]

[Interrupting seems like a bad idea just now. Nephry will stand quietly by the door and watch.]

[Anise seems completely focused on the artes she's casting, not even noticing that she's got an audience in Nephry yet. The dummy in front of her sizzles, but she doesn't seem satisfied with it.]

Ugh, stupid power cap! Stupid Malnosso! Stupid barrier! Stupid stupid stupid...!

[There's a dog, leaving the barracks when he sees Anise come by.] ...

[He hasn't seen this kid before, and it looks like something's troubling her]

[Anise doesn't even see the dog when she gets to the barracks. She does pause a bit and hovers just by the entrance, though.]

[...A sad kid never sits well with Repede. He slowly comes up to besides her, and looks up at her, fiddling with his pipe]

[galddigger]

[Anise blinks, when she realizes that there's a dog with a pipe coming up next to her. ... Well, she's seen stranger things. She carefully reaches out to pet him a bit.]

[Voice]

[It's a while before Anise responds, but she does - even if her voice is a little weaker than normal. If asked, there's nothing wrong, nope, nothing at all.]

Oh, hey Emil.

Did something happen to Ion? I know he wasn't feeling well the other day when I walked him home, but he didn't seem that sick...

[Anise quickly moves from the journal's tiny camera, so Emil can't see her expression.]

Ah, um, no? I mean, yeah, actually. It's just - ... Ion's home now, that's all.
