[With the days getting warmer, staying out later was no trouble for this Fon Master. He'd been spending more time walking around the village lately; Anise was still missing and if something like that butterfly incident happened again when she returned... well. He wanted to be sure that didn't happen. Ion was heading back towards House 1 when a familiar voice caught his attention.]

Anise...?

[Action]

[Way to go, Ion. She just came back from a kidnapping and now she's worrying about you!]

Well, there was a day where a bunch of tree trunks fell from the sky and caught on fire... er, they were on fire when they were falling, I mean. And a few days after that, there were these weird butterflies all over the city that attacked people.

[His hand flew up to the mark on his face.] A few of them go into the house, but none of us were badly injured... though I can't say the same for the rest of the village. After they were taken care of, a lot of people suddenly disappeared for a day or two and then came back like it was nothing. [He frowned.] It's been a really crazy month.

[galddigger]

Trees that fell from the sky? ... And they were on fire?! [Anise's eyes widen.] I'd ask if you were kidding, but somehow I can really see that kinda thing happen around here. That's so weird--

[But wait--] Wait - butterflies that attacked - [Her eyes follow his hand to the mark on his face.] They got to you! Oh, oh Ion, that's terrible! Are you okay? You weren't hurt too badly, were you? And - and what about Nephry, and His Majesty? [She frowns, then.] Figures this kinda thing happens while I'm not around to help!

I'm fine, Anise. And so are Nephry and His Majesty. They were just as fragile as regular butterflies, so in small number they weren't difficult to deal with. [There's a sad sort of smile on his face as he continues.] Actually... I'm glad you weren't here at the time. We were lucky to have all been inside the house at the time, but others were stranded in places around the village. I would have been worried about you.

[Not that he wasn't already worried, given she had been kidnapped, but that was besides the point!]

[She just shakes her head] Still, if I were around, maybe you wouldn't have gotten hurt... Ugh, those crazy scientists have the worst timing ever!

I'm glad you're okay now, though. And that I'm back, so we can keep it from happening again, right?

[His smile brightens and he nods. Oh Anise, you take such good care of him!] Right!

[He gently squeezes Anise's hand in his own as they approach House 1.] You really were gone for along time... ah, are you hungry? I could make you something, if you want? [Don't do it Anise! Head-canon says Ion's cooking is a fate worse than death!]

[She is likely aware of that, she makes his lunch for him, after all. But she's just relieved to see the house, finally, and so nods absently.]

I am kinda hungry. Can't remember what I ate last...

In that case, I'll be sure to make something good. [There's a pause as he smiles and adds to that, with a rather determined look.] And this time, I won't burn it! Or at least make sure it doesn't catch on fire...

[Hold up, okay, that gets her attention--]

On second thought, I'm not all that hungry~! [Her stomach grumbles in protest. Of course.] I-I mean, something simple should be okay, Ion! Like, um, maybe a sandwich! [At least you can't burn those?]

[Ion doesn't even register the nervousness of her voice, and nods cheerfully.] All right, then, a sandwich it is!

[He skips up the steps and holds the door open for her, still beaming. After such an awful month, having Anise back has really improved his mood!]

[She actually sighs quietly in relief, there. But is smiling at the skip in his step - it's hard not to grin when he's clearly in such a good mood. She steps inside.]

[He closes the door behind them and nods in agreement. It was definitely nice having Anise back!]

[Ion's already walking towards the kitchen, turned around so he's still facing Anise.] You can rest for a bit while I make you something to eat, alright?

[And with that, he turns and goes to the kitchen to attempt to make something that's at least edible for Anise!]

[He's dead set on making that sandwich, isn't he. Anise follows him into the kitchen; she can at least make sure he doesn't burn the house down, this way.]

U-um, that's okay! It won't take long, will it? I can rest and watch you at the same time, no problem~

It shouldn't take too long, no. [Blissfully unaware of his friend's lack of confidence in his cooking capabilities, Ion heads to the fridge and gathers up some basic sandwich-making ingredients: meat, cheese, lettuce, condiments... and he may or may not have noticed that the small red bottle tucked under his arm was not ketchup, but spicy hot sauce.

In a few minutes, he's already got the sandwich all assembled and it looks good! Setting it on a plate, he holds it out for Anise.] Here you go, Anise!
