Keep your Christmas in your way, and let me keep it in mine!

I think somewhere around 1950 they stopped making good Christmas music. And even then, I feel we were in decline for about 2 or 3 centuries. If there's one thing I'm a snob about it's my Christmas music. So, go listen to some modern pop diva butcher "Let it Snow" and then come back here and watch this.

We've done a Warlock piece for the last few years on Christmas eve services. He's not exactly amateur choir friendly. But he did write some great shtuff.

And that's why I love him so.

What's your Christmas gig this year?

This is actually the lightest in years. Our church choir did the Messiah last weekend. This week coming we have some random concert with a local community type orchestra, that our church choir and the kids from the Bernardsville highschool choir are teaming up to do. Then we have two services Christmas eve. That's it. In years past Antioch has done a Christmas concert, but due to the new way we work things on a per-gig basis (we pretty much only do gigs that pay, and we contract out singers for real money, so it costs a bundle to do a concert, hence only taking gigs that either pay or are important enough publicity wise that we can justify funding them through donors) we're not gonna do that anymore.

It's kind of odd, not having to schedule my December around a crazy busy work schedule AND hald a dozen musical endeavors AND church. I almost feel like I'm cheating, somehow, to be this not crazy-busy.

Oh, and the Warlock piece is his Benedicamus Domino.

Just don't send them onto my lawn, either. "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" needs to die a horrible death.
