Inspection Week

Apparently, Medicare inspects nursing homes periodically and this is PH&R's week. There are three "surveyors" here who have been here since Wednesday and will be back on Monday and Tuesday. They've been watching the staff, making them nervous to various extents. The results of the inspection are posted on Medicare's website and were apparently used ( Read more... )

You do realize that US News is an extreme right-wing rag, right? Their electronic weekly edition has an excellent crossword (shared by Trip Payne [featured in Wordplay and always an A-level finalist at the ACPT] and Patrick Berry [best known for his awesome variety puzzles, particularly the "rows garden" type). I hate giving them my $20/year when the NYT charges just twice as much for eight times the puzle volume, but I really like these puzzles.

Well, I didn't have to pay them to read their nursing home report, and their report seemed to be based directly on the Medicare report anyway. If I'd known that at the time, I could have just read the Medicare report directly.

I know. I was just giving you crap. I can't imagine how you can put a political spin on nursing home ratings, though I'm sure some dittohead will prove me wrong.
