Hi I stumbled onto your journal by searching in lj for people interested in Yokosuka. I love the photos of Gojira, that looks awesome.
My husband and I are going to pcs to Yokosuka in late summer and I've been looking everywhere for not so official information about the area. How do you like it so far?
Well, I've always loved Japan but I think I like it even more sense I've moved here if possible. I hope you're one of the people that come with an interest or love of Japan in the first place ...because I've dealt with so many people in my short stay so far that are so negative and bitter they blame it on the Country and not their own attitude. You'll run into that a lot sadly.
But we live on the main Yokosuka base and it's almost like living in America (small town atmosphere, NEX shopping, Mickey D's, Taco Bell, etc) --then you get to "step out" into Japan once you're off base. Around the base it's very easy to survive because a lot of establishments speak English and/or have English menus. Living in Yokosuka is easy for anybody. But of course please get out! There is soooooo much to do near by. So many historic spots alone. I honestly find new things every time I go out to Yokosuka alone
