Battery life matters more if you know you'll be away from a socket.
To me, the difference between 6 and 9 hours is trivial because I don't use my wireless hardware in such long chunks away from power for any normal time for it to matter.

Trackpads matter less if you have, are willing to and are capable of using an external device.

The weight difference does not seem that big of a deal to me, but I won't be carrying it for ya;)

My gut was the Envy but I'm a gamer and I think I automatically look for stuff as far as that goes.
And there's little I do on the laptop that I can't do on the desktop, so I'm probably a terrible person to be giving advice.

Yeah, it'll depending on what you're using it for=)
There's 2 cents tho,

I'm increasingly reluctant to give Apple money, but I think I've ranted about that to you in person fairly recently. Also, I think those are the specs/price for a MacBook (not a MacBook Pro).

How often are you working without an external mouse available these days?

Increasingly, I prefer working at a desktop with a couple of monitors. For many tasks, I feel frustrated by the small screen size of my laptop.

The trackpad thing basically doesn't matter to me at all because I try to never use it / the buttons. Everything keystrokes. Mac OS is pretty good in this regard (nothing like a real window manager but way better than windows)
